Mavericks, Mastodons Set For Senior Day

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's basketball team hosts Purdue Fort Wayne for its home finale this Saturday, Feb. 16.  Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. at Baxter Arena, Donny Baarns will have the radio call on 1180 Zone 2m, and links to live stats, audio and video will be available on OMavs.com.

Omaha will honor Ellie Brecht, Jay Bridgeman, Alicia Mountain, Kalen Phillips and Romekia Wallace with pre-game Senior Day festivities.

The Opening Tip
•    Omaha is 7-18 overall and 1-11 in Summit League play, following an 82-38 loss to South Dakota State on Wednesday.
•    Freshman Mariah Murdie earned her first career double-double against the Jackrabbits, scoring 11 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
•    Sophomore Emily Petersen added 10 points, while sophomore Claire Killian chipped in seven points.
•    Carter paces the Mavericks this season, averaging 9.7 points per game, while Filer leads the team with 7.7 rebounds per game.
•    Omaha ranks third in the league in points per game allowed (66.5 ppg).
•    The Mavericks are fourth in 3-point field goal defense (33.0 pct).
•    As a team, UNO ranks in the top five in six different rebounding categories.
•    Coaches and members of the media picked Omaha to finish eighth in the Preseason Coaches' Poll.
•    The Mavericks returned one starter, Claire Killian, and six letterwinners from last season's team.
•    Last season, Omaha finished 12-16 overall and sixth in The Summit League with a mark of 3-11.
•    Returning in 2018-19 for UNO are Killian, Wallace, Jay Bridgeman, Alicia Mountain, Emily Petersen and Kalen Phillips.
•    Kylee Coulter returns to action after redshirting last season.
•    The Mavericks welcome six newcomers in Carter and Juliana Chagas, and freshmen Josie Filer, Sophie Johnston, Mariah Murdie and Elena Pilakouta.

Scouting the Fort Wayne Mastodons
Purdue Fort Wayne is 6-18 (2-10 Summit League) on the season.  The Mastodons have lost four straight league games, including an 82-62 decision Wednesday evening at Denver.  De'Jour Young had 11 points, nine rebounds and four assists, while Sh'Toya Sanders added 10 points and seven boards.

Purdue Fort Wayne, which finished 4-24 (1-13 Summit League) a year ago, was picked to finish ninth in the Summit League preseason poll.  The Mastodons are 1-11 on the road this season. 

Assistant coach Marcie Alberts is serving the as the interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

Series History
Omaha trails the all-time series against Purdue Fort Wayne 7-6.  The Mastodons defeated Omaha 56-48 in Fort Wayne on Jan. 24, 2019.
