LINCOLN, Neb. – The Omaha men's tennis team fell 4-0 to Nebraska Sunday afternoon at the Dillon Tennis Center.
With the loss, the Mavericks are now 2-6 overall (0-0 Summit League), while the Cornhuskers improved to 5-4.
Nebraska won two of the three doubles matches to claim the doubles points. The pairing of
Abdoul Ouattara and
Davis Lawley fell 6-2 at No. 1 to Toby Boyer and William Gleason.
Nathan Reekie and
Razvan Grigorescu tied things at 1-1 with a 6-1 win over Micah Klousia and Chris Dean at No. 2. The Cornhuskers claimed the point with a 7-6 win at No. 3.
Nebraska went on to claim three singles matches to claim the match. Isaac Nortey defeated Omaha's
Hugo Piles Ballester at No. 5, 6-4, 6-4. Lawley then lost a 6-3, 6-4 decision at No. 4 to Victor Moreno. Klousia clinched the match with 6-3, 6-3 over Grigorescu at No. 2.
The remaining two matches were unfinished. Reekie split sets with Gleason at No. 3, 2-6, 6-3, while Ouattara was in a second set tiebreaker after dropping the first set 6-2.
Omaha returns to the court next weekend, visiting the University of Iowa on Friday, Feb. 15 at 5 p.m.
