COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Omaha freshman goaltender Isaiah Saville was one of 28 players named to the U.S. National Junior Team preliminary roster today.

Players will attend camp at the USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich. where coaches and officials from USA Hockey will determine the final 23-man roster that will compete in the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship being held in the Czech Republic from Dec. 26 – Jan. 5.  The final roster will be announced on Dec. 24.

Saville has appeared in 12 games for the Mavericks this season, posting a 5-4-2 record with a 2.96 goals-against average and a .890 save percentage.  The native of Anchorage, Alaska was named the NCHC Goaltender of the Week following a split at then No. 12 Ohio State in October.

He is one of five NCHC players named to the roster.

If Saville is named to the final roster, he will be the first Maverick to play in the World Juniors since Josh Archibald in 2012.

The United States has medaled in four consecutive World Junior Championships, the longest such streak in U.S. history.  Last year, the U.S. earned a silver medal, losing to Finland in the championship game.

The Americans will be coached by Minnesota Duluth head coach Scott Sandelin.  Former NHL goaltender John Vanbiesbrouck is the team's general manager.
