Omaha Sets Focus at Eastern Illinois

OMAHA, Neb. -- Omaha women's basketball aims for its third-straight win with a Saturday, Dec. 7, matchup against the Eastern Illinois Panthers in Charleston, Ill. The Mavericks and Panthers square off at 2 p.m. 

OPENING TIP 
• Omaha is coming off a 57-53 win over Kansas City Wednesday night inside Baxter Arena. 
• In that game, Mikaela Ekdahl tallied her third-straight double-digit scoring game with 13, while Ella Ogier notched her first-career double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds. 
• This weekend, Omaha looks for its first road win of the season (0-3). 
• Omaha leads the all-time series over Eastern Illinois 3-1, including a 76-67 win over the Panthers at Baxter Arena on Dec. 6, 2015. 
• Junior Claire Killian, who leads the team with 10.6 points per game, is on a streak of seven games with two or more made 3-pointers. 
• Eastern Illinois is also the only OVC opponent for Omaha this season. 

CHEER FOR OGIER
Freshman Ella Ogier had five games of single-digit scoring performances after a 12-point outing in the season opener. Despite the recent skid, Ogier was able to bounce back and net 11 points and six boards in the loss to VCU. 

She followed up with a career-high of 14 points and seven assists to go with five boards and three blocks in the 78-70 win over Mississippi Valley State. The Melbourne, Australia native is coming off he first-career double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds in the win over Kansas City, which also marked her third-straight double-digit scoring performance. 

SCOUTING EASTERN ILLINOIS 
Omaha and Eastern Illinois square off for the fifth time in the series history, with the Mavericks holding the advantage 3-1. Eastern Illinois is currently 4-3 this season, most recently coming off a win over Lipscomb. 

The Panthers rank 16th in the NCAA with 12.7 steals per game. The team currently has four players averaging double figures in Abby Wahl (14.6), Karle Pace (13.4), Taylor Steele (12.3) and Jordyn Hughes (10.7). Despite holding a 3-1 advantage, Omaha's looks for its first-ever win in Charleston. Head coach Matt Bollant is in his third season with the program.
