Mavericks Take On South Dakota State In League Opener

OMAHA, Neb. -- Omaha women's basketball opens Summit League play with a home matchup Sunday, Dec. 29, at 2 p.m. against the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. 

OPENING TIP
• The last time out, Omaha defeated Graceland 85-46 at home inside Baxter Arena. 
• The game against the Jackrabbits marks the fourth of five-straight home games for the Mavericks. 
• In that four-game span, Omaha is 1-3. 
• The Mavericks and South Dakota State meet for the 74th time in the series history. 
• SDSU leads the series 40-33 over Omaha and leads 13-1 over the Mavericks in the Division I era (2011-Present). 
• The last time Omaha defeated South Dakota State was at home on Jan. 28, 2017, 83-82. 
Claire Killian leads the team with 9.2 points per game. 
• South Dakota State is led by a trio of players who average double digits. 
• Omaha is 3-4 in regular season league openers.

LAST GAME LEADERS
Akili Felici led the Mavericks with 14 points to the win over Graceland. She shot 4-of-9 from three and 5-for-10 from the field. Mariah Murdie followed with 13 points and nine rebounds on 5-for-7 shooting, while Rayanna Carter and Kia Wilson netted 11 points apiece. Ella Ogier was one basket shy of a double-double with eight points and 10 boards.

SCOUTING SOUTH DAKOTA STATE 
The Jackrabbits sit at 8-6 overall with a recent win over Green Bay on the road (60-55). The defending Summit League Tournament Champions were picked second this season as Tagyn Larson and Myah Selland were selected to the preseason First Team. Three different players average double figures for the Jackrabbits as head coach Aaron Johnston is in his 20th year at the helm of the program. Omaha looks to erase a five-game skid to South Dakota State.
