Omaha Battles Cleveland State In Sunday Showdown

OMAHA, Neb. -- Omaha women's basketball welcomes Cleveland State this Sunday, Dec. 15, at 3 p.m. inside Baxter Arena.
 
OPENING TIP
• The Mavericks play their second of five-straight games inside Baxter Arena.
• Last time out, Omaha fell to Northern Iowa at home.
• In that game, both Rayanna Carter and Mariah Murdie led the scoring efforts with 11 points apiece.
• The Mavericks aim to erase a two-loss streak this weekend against the Vikings.
• The game marks the second Horizon League opponent for the Mavericks this season, as they played Northern Kentucky earlier this year in a 57-40 loss.
• Omaha and Cleveland State square off for the first time in the series history.
Claire Killian leads the team with 9.8 points per game, while Murdie's 5.4 rebounds per game are a team-best.
• Along with rebounds, Murdie also leads the team in field goal percentage (.537) and blocks per game (1.0).
 
SCOUTING CLEVELAND STATE
The Vikings are off to their best start in program history with an 8-1 record thus far. After losing the season opener at Bowling Green, Cleveland State has won eight-straight games. Recently, the Vikings defeated East Tennessee State on the road, 62-54.
 
They are currently receiving 21 votes in the CollegeInsider.com Mid Major Poll. The team has a duo of scorers who lead the way with Mariah Miller averaging 22.3 points per game and Mariah White averaging 15.9 points per game. Head coach Chris Kielsmeier is in his second season at the helm of the program.
