RedHawks Beat Mavericks 4-1 in Series Finale

OMAHA, Neb. – The Miami RedHawks rode a three-goal second period to a 4-1 win over the No. 18 Omaha hockey team in the series finale on Saturday.

Miami cashed in on its first power play of the game to lead 1-0 after one.  Gordie Green was open at the left circle, and he fired a shot past UNO goalie Austin Roden at 6:32.

Green knocked in a bouncing puck at 6:39 of the second to double Miami's lead, and Jack Clement added another at 13:58 to make it 3-0.

Taylor Ward got Omaha on the board late in the period when he zipped home a pass from Brandon Scanlin at 17:10.

But just 26 seconds later, Chase Pletzke scored for Miami to make it 4-1 after two.

The RedHawks held their ground in the third in spite of being outshot, 17-5.  UNO finished with a 33-24 shot edge.
