Golden Eagles Spoil Maverick Senior Day

OMAHA, Neb. – The No. 24 Oral Roberts Golden Eagles handed the men's soccer team a 3-0 loss on Senior Day at Caniglia Field on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Mavericks fall to 3-8-3 (2-2-1) on the season while the Golden Eagles clinched at least a share of the Summit League regular-season title.

How It Happened
  • The Golden Eagles scored early in the fifth minute off a long cross from the right side before Dante Brigida chipped one in from a few yards outside the left post.
  • In the fifth minute, the Mavericks were given a free kick just inside the top of the box, but Miguel Gomez's attempt hooked wide of the net.
  • ORU doubled its lead in the 22nd minute when Reed Berry tapped a dribbling attempt inside the right post.
  • The Golden Eagles scored their final goal of the match on a header by Andrew Nunez from 10 yards out in the middle of the box.

  • Omaha clipped the Golden Eagles in shots by a 10-9 margin while ORU held a 5-1 advantage in shots on goal.
  • Diego Gutierrez led the Maverick offense with five shots, followed by Gomez's three attempts.
