Omaha Welcomes Morgan State In Sunday Contest

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's basketball team returns home for a matchup against Morgan State Sunday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m. at Baxter Arena.
 
OPENING TIP
• Omaha returns home for its third game of the season inside Baxter Arena.
• The Mavericks and Morgan State square off for the first time in the series history.
• Omaha is coming off a 63-48 loss at Allen Fieldhouse against Kansas.
Elena Pilakouta is on a streak of six double-digit scoring games dating back to the final two games of the 2018-19 season.
• Pilakouta's double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds mark season highs and she now has four career double-doubles.
• Morgan State recently fell at Nebraska last Thursday, 78-55.
• Omaha enters the weekend with a 1-3 overall record and aims for its first Division I win of the season against the Bears.
• Behind Pilakouta's 11.8 points per game, Kia Wilson ranks second on the team with 8.3 points per game.
• Omaha is currently 1-1 in home games.

SCOUTING MORGAN STATE
The Bears sit at 2-2 overall and, like Omaha, seek their first Division I win this season. Morgan State is led by Ashia McCalla's 14.5 points per game.
 
Her teammate Dahnye Redd follows with 14.0 points and a team-best 7.5 rebounds per contest. The team is led by head coach Ed Davis Jr. who is in his fifth season with the program. The Bears were selected seventh in the Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference (MEAC) Preseason Poll out of 10 teams.
 
Last season, Morgan State finished 10-21 overall and 8-8 in league play. The Bears fell 50-48 to Coppin State in the MEAC Tournament First Round game.
 
MAVERICKS AGAINST THE MEAC
Omaha is a combined 3-0 against teams from the MEAC conference. The Mavericks are 2-0 against Florida A&M and 1-0 against North Carolina A&T. The last time Omaha faced off against a team from the MEAC was on Nov. 25, 2018, against Florida A&M at the FIU Tournament. In that game, Omaha won 57-50 behind Claire Killian's game-high 14 points -- all in the second half.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
Omaha is off until Thursday, Nov. 21, where the team travels on the road to Highland Heights, Ky., against Northern Kentucky. The game is set for a 6 p.m. start time. Fans can listen to the game on 1290 KOIL.
