Flurry of Second Half Goals Overwhelms Mavericks on the Road

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The Omaha women's soccer team held a one-goal lead after the first half, but couldn't hold on as the Mavericks fell 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at North Dakota in Grand Forks, N.D.
 
The Mavericks fall to 5-11-1 (2-5-0) while the Fightin Hawks move to 10-6-1 (4-3-0) on the season.

  • The Mavericks grabbed a 1-0 lead when Sydney Randall's attempt slipped through the keeper's hands and fell into the back of the net for the first goal in the 15th minute off the assist by Amanda Rapaduski.
  • North Dakota tied the match at one in the 59th minute when Ashley Ebeling placed the ball into the top corner of the goal.
  • The Fighting Hawks took a 2-1 lead when Megan Wright scored in the top far corner in the 62nd minute.
  • UND's Mara Yapello scored in the 71st minute and Olivia Knox added a goal in the 73rd minute to stretch the lead to 4-1.
  • Omaha cut into the deficit when Laurin Mertz capitalized on a one-on-one opportunity with the goalkeeper to score her second goal of the season in the 76th minute.
  • North Dakota scored its final goal in the 84th minute when Mimi Eiden collected the loose ball in the box and placed it into the back of the net.
