Mavericks Suffer Hard-Fought Loss at Denver

DENVER, Colo. – The Omaha men's soccer team fell 2-0 to the Denver Pioneers on the road Saturday night in a match that lasted two hours and 26 minutes in Denver, Colo.
 
The Mavericks fall to 3-7-3 (2-1-1) while the Pioneer jump to 3-9-3 (1-2-1) on the season.

How It Happened
  • Andreas Hermansson attempted Omaha's first shot attempt in the seventh minute that was saved by the DU goalkeeper.
  • Omaha goalkeeper Jeremy Pollard stuffed a Denver penalty kick attempt, but Jacob Stensson collected the rebound of his attempt and placed the ball into the back of the net to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute.
  • Denver's Josh Drack scored on a penalty kick to double the lead to 2-0 in the 69th minute.
  • Marcos Bautista nearly cut the deficit in half in the 79th minute when he fired a long-distance strike towards the net, but the attempt was denied by Denver goalkeeper.
