COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Freshman
Isaiah Saville has been named the NCHC Goaltender of the Week for his work in the Omaha hockey team's split at then-No. 12 Ohio State.
Saville was in net for both games last weekend. On Friday, Saville made 24 saves and allowed three power play goals in a 3-2 loss to the Buckeyes. The following night, the native of Anchorage, Alaska was sharp making 37 saves and allowing only one goal in a 2-1 win. He helped the Mavericks hold Ohio State to 0-for-5 on the power play, a stretch that totaled 13:03 and included 2:57 of 5-on-3 power play advantage for OSU.
In doing so, Saville improved his NCHC-leading goals-against average to 1.68 and his save percentage to .938 through four games. He is the first Maverick to earn a player of the week award this season.
The Mavericks are off until Oct. 31-Nov. 1 when they visit Alaska Anchorage.
