OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's soccer team begins Summit League play this week as the Mavericks venture to Macomb, Ill., to take on Western Illinois on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 3 p.m.

Scouting the Western Illinois Leathernecks
The Western Illinois Leathernecks open Summit League play with a 4-5-1 record after a 1-0 win vs. Chicago State on Monday, Sept. 30.
The Leathernecks have scored nine goals in 10 matches this season while being shut out in five matches. Western Illinois has taken 11.1 shots per match with 41.4 percent of those on target. Five different players have scored goals for the Leathernecks this season.
The Western Illinois defense has allowed 13 goals this season while tallying a pair of shutouts. Leatherneck opponents have posted 15.6 shots per match, including 38.5 percent of those on goal. Goalkeeper Ines Palmeiro Herrera is 4-5-1 on the season with 49 saves, a .790 save percentage and 1.28 goals-against average.

• No. 7 Amy Andrews - tied for third in the Summit League with five goals on the season.
• No. 9 Jenna Lundgren - tied for second on the team with three points with a goal and an assist.
• No. 4 Cassidy Grunewald - leads the Leathernecks with three assists in 10 matches.
Omaha vs. Western Illinois
The all-time series between Omaha and Western Illinois is tied after eight meetings, 4-4-0. In their last meeting, the Mavericks won 2-1 on Oct. 28, 2018 at Caniglia Field.
