OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's tennis team swept a day-night doubleheader with Northern Illinois at the Miracle Hill Tennis Center.  The Mavericks took the opener 4-1 before coming from behind in the nightcap to win 4-3.

With the sweep, the Mavericks improved to 2-2 on the season, while the Huskies dropped to 1-3.

Omaha 4, Northern Illinois 1
The Mavericks captured the doubles points with wins at the number one and two slots.  Abdoul Ouattara and Nathan Reekie got things going with a 6-4 win at No. 2.  The Huskies tied things at 1-1 with a win at No. 3.  Razvan Grigorescu and Davis Lawley clichéd the point with a 7-5 win at No. 1.

Omaha continued the momentum into singles.  Hugo Piles Ballester put UNO in front with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Shao-Yu Yu at No. 6.  Davis Lawley dropped a 6-3, 7-5 decision to David Patta at No. 3.  Reekie then won a close battle with Victor Spolidorio at No. 4 6-4, 6-4.  Ouattara clinched the match for the Mavericks with a 7-6 (2), 6-4 win over Kristopher Ortega at No. 1.

Omaha 4, Northern Illinois 3
Northern Illinois opened the match by winning all three doubles matches to earn the point and an early 1-0 lead.

Omaha tied the match when Grigorescu defeated Eric Marbach 6-1, 7-5.  The Huskies then won matches at No. 3 and No. 5 for a 3-1 advantage.  Reekie won a split set affair over Bor Schweiger Muzar at No. 4 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.  Ouattara leveled the match with a split set win over Ortega 7-6 (5), 3-6, 6-3.  Piles Ballester ended the match with a split set win over Spolidorio 6-4, 5-7, 7-5.
