OMAHA, Neb.- Omaha softball head coach
Amanda Eberhart announced today the addition of Michelle Phalen as a volunteer assistant coach.
"We are excited to have Michelle join our program," said Eberhart. "She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our staff. Michelle has worked with some of the best in the game and will be a great resource for our team."
Phalen is a college softball veteran with 16 years as either an assistant or a head coach. She started the program at Pittsburgh and served 11 years as the head coach, amassing a career record of 226-329-1. Her Panther teams qualified for three BIG EAST Tournaments and had 15 players earn all-league honors.
Phalen served two seasons at South Carolina where she coached the hitters and bullpen along with being the recruiting coordinator. She started her coaching career as an assistant at Missouri.
Phalen enjoyed an outstanding collegiate softball career at Missouri. A four-year starting catcher for the Tigers, she earned All-Big Eight and All-Region honors as a senior and also was an All-Big Eight Academic honoree.
"Michelle was born and raised in Omaha before she embarked on her coaching and playing career," Eberhart said. "Now she's back in her hometown and part of the Maverick family."
