Men’s Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision to No. 11 Clemson

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to No. 11 Clemson on Sunday afternoon at Caniglia Field.

The Mavericks fell to 0-2, while the Tigers improved to 1-1.

The lone goal came in the 24th minute on an own goal.  Clemson's Adrian Nunez played a corner kick into the penalty area, and a clearance attempt by defender Hugo Ellouk ended up in the Omaha goal to put the Tigers in front 1-0.

Turning Point
Omaha had a chance to level the game in the 35th minute, but Clemson's Justin Malou cleared Denzel Woods' shot off the line.  

Inside the Box Score
•    Clemson outshot Omaha 10-9 and held a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal.  The Tigers also held an 8-6 advantage in corners.
•    Omaha goalkeeper Matt Smith played the full 90 minutes and made three saves.  Clemson's Jonny Sutherland played the full game with two saves.
•    Martin Veys led the Mavericks with three shots while Marcos Bautista added two.
•    Between the two teams, there were 39 fouls.  There were nine cards given in tonight's match.  Four yellow cards were on UNO while four yellow and a red card were given to Clemson.

Omaha returns to action on Friday, Aug. 31 against Missouri State.  The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
