Mike Gabinet announced today that defenseman
Nate Knoepke will join the class of incoming players for the 2018-19 season.
Knoepke spent two seasons with the U.S. National Team Development Program from 2015-17. In 2016-17, the native of Farmington, Minn. had four goals and 14 assists for 18 points in 64 games with the Under-18 team while also putting up a goal and four assists in 25 games for the USNTDP Junior Team in the USHL. That year, he also helped the U.S. to a gold medal in the U-18 World Championship, earning three assists in seven games.
Last season, Knoepke played for Sioux City of the United States Hockey League, earning 14 assists and 37 penalty minutes in 38 games.
Knoepke is the second former member of the USNTDP to join the Mavericks for 2018-19, joining forward
Tyler Weiss.
With the addition of Knoepke, the Mavericks now have nine incoming players for the upcoming season. Omaha opens the season with an exhibition game against Manitoba on Sunday, Oct. 7 at Baxter Arena.
