Mavericks Boast 11 AHCA All American Scholars

GLOUCESTER, Mass. - The American Hockey Coaches Association recognized 11 members of the Omaha hockey team for academic excellence in 2017-18.

The AHCA's second annual Krampade All American Scholars list includes Mavericks Riley Alferd, Alex Blankenburg, Lukas Buchta, Ryan Galt, Zach Jordan, Joel Messner, Mason Morelli, Fredrik Olofsson, Cole Pickup, Martin Sundberg and Tyler Vesel.

In order to be named an All American Scholar, student-athletes must have earned a 3.6 grade-point average in each semester of the previous year and participated in at least 40 percent of their school's games.  A few waivers were granted for players who were injured or for back-up goaltenders.  In all, 271 Division I men's players were recognized.  The Mavericks led all NCHC teams in honorees and were behind only a handful of schools nationally.

The award is sponsored by Krampade, LLC, a Lincoln, Neb.-based company focused on mitigating and preventing cramp formation.
