OMAHA, Neb. – With the 2018 season concluded, several student-athletes on the Omaha baseball team took their talents to leagues across North America during the summer.
The Mavericks have representation across two different parts of Canada, Nebraska, Wyoming, Kansas, Missouri and New York. Thus far, the Mavericks have had an impressive outing north of the American border, as
Cal Hehnke garnered West Coast League All-Star honors on the mound. He currently has a 1.54 ERA, 39 strikeouts off 23.1 innings pitched. His fellow teammate
Grant Suponchick also tallied a team-leading .380 batting average with 10 RBI, two home runs and two doubles.
For the Swift Current 57s,
Spencer Koelewyn has a 3.58 ERA with 50 strikeouts on 32.2 innings pitched, while
Max Gamm earned Sunflower Collegiate League All-Star honors for the Haven Warkahwks with a .279 batting average, 12 RBI and three home runs. In the Expedition League,
Tyler Daugherty was named an All-Star for the Hastings Sodbusters after batting .247 with 22 RBI, three doubles, two triples and five stolen bases. He also had four saves in 18.2 innings pitched with a .241 ERA and a 1-0 record on the mound.
