Omaha Sweeps South Dakota State, Central College

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's tennis team swept a doubleheader Sunday afternoon at the Miracle Hill Tennis Center.  The Mavericks earned a 5-2 victory over Summit League foe South Dakota State before defeating Central College, 6-1.

With the wins, the Mavericks improve to 11-16 overall and 1-4 in the Summit League.

The Mavericks started the day strong, taking the lead over the Jackrabbits with the doubles point and not falling behind through the end of the match.

After falling at No. 1 doubles, Marko Minic and Alex Woodward earned a 6-2 win at No. 3 over Samuel Heckman and Alberto Gonzalez.  Matt Dunn and Luke Moorhead claimed the doubles point with a 6-4 victory over Carlos Martinez and Alexander Reinke at No. 2.

After SDSU picked up a point with a forfeit at No. 6, Razvan Grigorescu defeated Emerson Styles at No. 1, 6-4, 6-2.  Minic lost 6-1, 6-3 to Marco Paulo Castro at No. 4 to even the match at 2-2.  Moorhead put the Mavericks in front with a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 5 over Henrique Stemmer.

Abdoul Ouattara clinched the match for Omaha with a 7-6 (3), 6-3 win over Martinez at No. 2.  Dunn then rallied for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 win over Reinke at No. 3 to make the final 5-2.

Omaha 6, Central College 1
UNO came out firing in the second match of the day versus Central College, winning the doubles point and collecting victories on courts one through five.

The Mavericks opened with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.  Razvan Grigorescu and Abdoul Ouattara made quick work of Garret Taylor and William Isiminger at No. 1, 6-1.  Matt Dunn and Luke Moorhead claimed the doubles point with a 6-2 win at No. 2.

In singles action, Ouattara topped Jacob Logan 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2.  Grigorescu, Dunn and Marko Minic each won 6-1, 6-1 matches at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.  Moorhead finished the day with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5.
