OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Denver Saturday afternoon at the Miracle Hill Tennis Center. With the loss, the Mavericks are now 8-16 overall (0-4 Summit League) while the Pioneers improved to 10-8 (4-1 Summit League).
Omaha dropped the doubles point to start the match.
Abdoul Ouattara and
Marko Minic opened with a 6-3 win over Pedro Del Valle and Eric Morris.
Matt Dunn and
Luke Moorhead fell at No. 3, 6-4.
Razvan Grigorescu and
Nathan Reekie fell 6-4 at No. 1 as Denver claimed the doubles point.
The Pioneers kept the momentum into singles action. Omaha dropped straight-set matches at No. 3 and No. 4. Grigorescu and Minic each dropped three-set matches at No. 1 and No. 5, respectively. Grigorescu fell 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 to Mattia Ros at No. 1. Minic lost 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 at No. 5 to Morris. The Mavericks got on the board with Ouattara's 7-5, 7-6 (6) victory over Matt Summers at No. 2.
Omaha returns to the court on Sunday, April 15 against South Dakota State and Central College. First serve against the Jackrabbits is set for Noon.
