SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The 2017-18 season came to an end Saturday night for the Omaha men's basketball team, as the seventh-seeded Mavericks fell 87-73 to No. 2 seed South Dakota in the Summit League Tournament Quarterfinals at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.
Leaders for Omaha
Junior
Zach Jackson turned in a game-high 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting and a perfect 7-of-7 effort at the free throw line. The All-Summit selection from Wichita, Kan., also pulled down a team-leading six rebounds.
Senior
Daniel Norl joined Jackson in double figures with 11 points, and senior
Lamar Wofford-Humphrey added 10 points and six boards.
Leaders for South Dakota
South Dakota was led by 20 points from Matt Mooney and another 17 off the bench from Nick Fuller. Trey Burch-Manning (14) and Brandon Armstrong (11) also scored in double figures, and Austin Sparks added eight rebounds and six points.
Team Stats
South Dakota shot .516 (33-of-64) to Omaha's .419 (26-of-62) and had a 39-31 rebounding advantage.
Inside the First Half
USD opened to a 7-0 lead, which set the tone for the game as the Mavericks trailed the entire way. Omaha managed to cut it to 9-7 with the help of back-to-back buckets from Norl and
KJ Robinson, but the Coyotes responded with a 15-2 run later in the half that extended their advantage to 28-12 with 11 minutes to go. USD led by as many as 27 points in the half before a late 7-0 surge by Omaha trimmed it to 46-28 at the break.
Inside the Second Half
The Mavericks got within 13 at 48-35 early in the second stanza, but USD pushed through with an 8-0 run midway through to regain momentum.

Zach Jackson's scoring performance was his 28th in double figures this season. He also hit 20 points for the 12th time this year.
