VERMILLION, S.D. - Junior Anna Edet earned the school record in the weight throw, leading the Omaha track & field team at the Dakota Realty Alumni Meet at South Dakota on Saturday.

It was a strong showing from the Mavericks who set several personal and season bests.

Edet broke the Omaha school record with a toss of 56 feet 5.75 inches (17.21 meters) and finished third. She followed it up with a new personal best in the shot put with a mark of 43 feet 1.75 inches (13.15 meters). That mark places her eighth in Omaha history.

"It was nice to see all the hard work pay off, but I'm ready for more," said Edet. "It was an all around good day for us and a great day to be a Mav."

Head Coach Chris Richardson said afterwards, "I'm extremely pleased with Anna's throws as well as everyone else's performances."

Also competing in the weight toss, Megan Adams finished fifth with a throw of 50 feet 2.75 inches (15.31 meters), good for sixth all-time in UNO history. Maddy Partridge finished eighth with a mark of 48 feet 10 inches (14.88 meters), which is the 10th-best mark in school history and a new personal best.

In the 60 meter hurdles, Sasha Quattlebaum nabbed sixth in a new personal best time of 9.02 seconds, the 10th best time in UNO history. She also set a new personal best in the triple jump with a mark of 37 feet 2.25 inches (11.33 meters), good for fourth.

Renata Valqiuer Chavez, Anita Jenkins, and Kayla Sabotin finished sixth, seventh, and eighth, respectively in the mile, while Willa Koenig finished 10th. Valquier Chavez finished in 5:21.34, a new season best. Jenkins also set a new season best with a time of 5:21.48. Sabotin crossed the line in 5:23.45, a season best for the senior. Koenig finished in 5:24.73.

Lauren Houston made her season debut in the 400 meter, running 59.15 seconds, good for third place.

Cassady Sunderman leaped 5 feet 2.5 inches (1.59 meters) in the high jump and finished in a tie for fourth.

In the 60 meter dash, Scarlett Hill finished eighth with a time of 8.18 seconds.

Jenkins nearly ran a season best in the 800 meter after competing in the mile, putting up a time of 2:24.77. She finished ninth.

Daylee Olson claimed 10th in the 200 meter with a time of 27.33 seconds, the fastest time in the event by a Maverick this season.

"It was a very good bounce back compared to last week's meet," added Richardson. "It just goes to show that regardless of where you are or who you compete against, you have the opportunity to do great things if you allow yourself to."

The Mavericks return to Brookings, S.D. for the second time this season at the two-day South Dakota State Classic Friday and Saturday, Feb. 9-10.
