TULSA, Okla. – The Omaha women's basketball team lost a 72-56 road decision to Oral Roberts on Wednesday evening at the Mabee Center.
Leaders for Omaha
Kalen Phillips led four Mavericks in double figures with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor.
Courtney Vaccher added her fourth double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds to go along with three blocked shots.
Jess Walter and
Claire Killian each chipped in 10 points.
Amber Vidal scored nine points, while
Sara Echelberry had five.
Leaders for Oral Roberts
Maya Mayberry scored a game-high 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting and added five rebounds and three assists. Faith Ihim added a triple-double with 13 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Montserrat Brotons scored 13 points with eight rebounds and two blocked shots.

Oral Roberts shot .491 (28-of-57) from the field compared to Omaha's .362 (21-of-58) effort. The Golden Eagles were .476 (10-of-21) from long-range, while the Mavericks were .300 (6-of-20). ORU held a 38-31 rebounding advantage, but UNO held a 12-11 lead on the offensive glass.
Inside the First Half
Oral Roberts shot .400 (12-of-30) from the field compared to Omaha's .333 (10-of-30). ORU sank .429 (6-of-14) from long-range, while UNO hit only .143 (1-of-7) from distance. Montserrat scored the game's first basket, but Phillips answered for the Mavericks. Two Walter free throws brought Omaha within 8-6 midway through the opening quarter. Oral Roberts went on a 10-2 spurt over the next 4:27 to lead by 10. A Killian three-point play to end the period cut ORU's lead to 18-11 after the opening 10 minutes.
The Golden Eagles started the second quarter on an 8-0 run to push the lead to 26-11. A Killian trey followed Vaccher's layup cut the lead to 26-16 with 4:42 left in the first half. Later, five-straight points by Vidal made the ORU lead 33-25 with 1:19 remaining. Mayberry's three-pointer with 31 seconds left gave Oral Roberts a 36-25 lead at intermission.
Inside the Second Half
Oral Roberts shot .593 (16-of-27) from the field in the second half, while Omaha was .393 (11-of-28). The Golden Eagles shot an impressive .571 (4-of-7) from behind the three-point line, while the Mavericks were .385 (5-of-13). Brotons and Ihim scored five quick points to open the third period for ORU until Phillips answered with a three-pointer for UNO. Ihim scored the final four points of the period as Oral Roberts surged in front 55-34.
The Mavericks came out on fire to start the fourth quarter outscoring the Golden Eagles 14-4. Vaccher accounted for six of UNO's points during the stretch. Mayberry connected on a pair of three's to push the lead back to 65-48. Walter scored the next five points of the game as Omaha drew within 65-53 with under four minutes left in regulation. Mayberry scored the final seven points of the game for ORU as the Golden Eagles took a 72-56 victory.
With the loss, Omaha is now 11-15 on the season (2-12 Summit League). Oral Roberts is 16-12 overall (7-7).
