Omaha Returns to the Road at Denver

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's basketball team returns to the road this weekend, visiting Denver on Saturday, Feb. 17.  Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. at Hamilton Gym in Denver, Colo.

About the Omaha Mavericks
•    Omaha is 11-13 overall and 2-9 in Summit League action.
•    Through 24 contests, junior guards Amber Vidal (13.1 points and 3.8 assists per game) and Jess Walter (10.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game) lead Omaha.
•    Junior Center Courtney Vaccher leads UNO and The Summit League in field-goal percentage at 62.9 percent.
•    UNO won seven straight games from Nov. 17-Dec. 6, its longest winning streak since the 2007-8 season.
•    This season Vidal has led the Mavericks in scoring 10 times while Walter has led the team three times.
•    Three Mavericks have had at least one 20-point scoring performance this season with Vidal going for 20+ six times.
•    Omaha shot .500 or better as a team in three straight games from Nov. 30-Dec. 6 and four times overall this year.
•    The Mavericks were picked fifth in the league's 2017-18 preseason poll.
•    Last season, UNO finished 16-15 overall and fifth in the Summit League with a mark of 8-8.  
•    Omaha returns two of five starters from last season's team, Vaccher and Vidal.
•    UNO also returns Brecht and junior guard Kalen Phillips, along with sophomore forward Jay Bridgeman.
•    Walter and sophomore Sara Echelberry return to action after redshirting in 2016-17. 
•    The Mavericks welcome six newcomers in juniors Alicia Mountain and Romekia Wallace, and freshmen Kylee Coulter, Emily Dewey, Claire Killian and Emily Petersen.

About the Denver Pioneers
The Pioneers are 15-12 on the season with a 6-6 Summit League mark.  Denver earned a season split with Oral Roberts on Thursday with a 70-54 win.

Claire Gritt averages 10.3 points per game to lead DU.  Briana Johnson and Samantha Romanowski average 8.9 and 8.1 points per game, respectively.  Jordyn Alt averages 7.8 rebounds per game, second-best in the Summit League.

As a team, the Pioneers are averaging 70.6 points per game, 39.9 rebounds per game and 14.4 assists per game.  Their opponents are averaging 69.6 points, 37.2 rebounds and 13.1 assists per game.

Head coach Jim Turgeon is in his first season at the helm of the Pioneers.  Turgeon is 384-184 over his 18-year coaching career.

Series History
Saturday is the 12th all-time meeting between Omaha and Denver.  The Mavericks lead the all-time series 8-3 but lost an 85-74 decision earlier this season at Baxter Arena.

Omaha visits Oral Roberts on Wednesday, Feb. 21, with tipoff set for 7 p.m. at the Mabee Center in Tulsa, Okla.
