Omaha Takes on Creighton on Wednesday

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's basketball team will head to cross-town foe Creighton on Wednesday, Dec. 5.  Tipoff at D.J. Sokol Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Opening Tip
  • Omaha enters Wednesday's matchup the winners of three straight contests.
  • The Mavericks shot 48.6 percent (35-of-72) as a team on Sunday, marking the second time this season the team has made 30 or more field goals.
  • UNO has assisted on 97 of its 161 field goals, a remarkable 60.3 percent mark.
  • This season, Omaha is 3-0 when shooting 45.0 percent or better from the field.
  • In UNO's last two games, the Mavericks held Detroit Mercy and Graceland to a combined 32 points in the second half.

Scouting the Omaha Mavericks
Omaha enters Wednesday's game with a 4-3 record after defeating Graceland 81-39 on Sunday.  Rayanna Cater led four Mavericks in double figures with 14 points, three assists and three steals.  Juliana Chagas each added 12 points, while Andi Pierce chipped in 10.

Elena Pilakota leads the Mavericks in points (9.7 ppg), assists (2.6 apg) and blocks (1.4 bpg) so far.  Killian puts up 8.9 points, 3.1 boards and 1.6 steals per game.  Josie Filer is Omaha's top rebounder, grabbing 8.6 rebounds per contest.

As a team, the Mavericks average 62.1 points and 40.0 rebounds per game.  Omaha is shooting 40 percent from the field and 30.4 percent from long-range.  UNO is connecting on 66.4 percent of its free throws.

Scouting the Creighton Bluejays
Creighton is coming off a 74-65 victory over in-state foe Nebraska 74-65 on Sunday at Sokol Arena.  Audrey Faber led the Jays with a double-double, tallying 18 points and 10 rebounds.  Tatum Rembao added 18 points and six assists.  Olivia Elger scored 16 points and grabbed seven boards.

Three Creighton players are posting double-digit points this season.  Faber who averages 17.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game leads CU.  Elger adds 11.3 points, 4.0 boards and 2.5 assists off the bench.  Jaylyn Agnew averaged 11 points in her first two games but has not played since Nov. 9.

As a team, the Blue Jays average 66.2 points and 32.2 rebounds per game.  Creighton is shooting 41.1 percent from the field and 34.2 percent from three-point range.  CU also is clutch at the free-throw line converting 82.5 percent of its attempts.

Series History
Omaha leads the all-time series with Creighton 16-13.  Since the transition to Division I, CU has won all four meetings.  Last season, the Blue Jays defeated the Mavericks 72-51 at Baxter Arena. (Dec. 10, 2017)
