Mavericks Drop 80-60 Decision to Bradley

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's basketball team fell 80-60 to Bradley on Friday at Sapp Fieldhouse.  The Mavericks are now 5-5 on the season, while the Braves improved to 8-0.

Leaders for Omaha
Elena Pilakouta led Omaha with a career-high 14 points on 6-of-13 shooting with nine rebounds and two assists.

Joining Pilakouta in double figures was Rayanna Carter with 13 points, three rebounds and three assists.  This was the fifth straight game in double figures for Carter.  Josie Filer added 10 points and seven rebounds.

Leaders for Bradley
Bradley had four players reach double-figures led by Lasha Petree's game-high 28 points. Gabi Haack scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds.  Nyjah White chipped in 13 points and dished out four assists.  Chelsea Brackmann added 10 points, eight boards and five assists.

Team Stats
Omaha hit 41.1 percent (23-of-56) of its shots from the field for the game, including 23.1 percent (3-of-13) from 3-point range.  The Mavericks also hit 11-of-11 free throws (1.000) and outrebounded Bradley, 37-34.  UNO committed 16 turnovers compared to Bradley's eight.

Bradley outshot Omaha for the game, connecting on 45.5 percent (30-of-66) of its attempts including 9-of-23 from behind the arc.  The Braves also hit 11-of-15 free throws.

Inside the First Half
Omaha opened with a balanced attack as four Mavericks scored at least two points in the first quarter.  UNO took an early lead over the Braves, 9-6.  The Braves used a 6-2 run to take a one-point lead on a Petree three-pointer.  The Mavericks closed the period on a 4-0 run to take a 15-12 lead in the second period.  Omaha shot 58.3 percent from the floor in the opening frame compared to 27.8 percent by Bradley.

The Mavericks stretched their lead to seven points in the opening minute of the second quarter, 19-12.  Bradley then outscored Omaha 22-13 the rest of the period, pulling ahead 38-28 at the half.  The Braves connected on 62.5 percent of their attempts while holding the Mavericks to 26.7 percent.

Inside the Second Half
Bradley outscored Omaha 15-2 over the opening 4:45 of the second half to take its largest lead of the game at 53-30.  The Mavericks ended the quarter on a 4-0 run to cut the Braves lead to 57-38 heading into the fourth quarter.  BU continued its hot shooting by hitting 41.2 percent from the field and held UNO to 20.0 percent.

The Mavericks scored the first four points of the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 15.  Mariah Murdie capped a 7-0 run by Omaha to bring the Mavericks within 67-55 with 5:26 remaining.  Bradley countered with a 13-5 surge to close the game for the 80-60 victory.
