Omaha Hosts Bradley, Visits Montana State

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's basketball team plays a pair of game this weekend, starting with a Friday, Dec. 14, game against Bradley.  Tipoff is set for noon at Sapp Fieldhouse.  The Mavericks then head to Bozeman, Mont. for a Sunday game against Montana State.  Tipoff on Sunday is scheduled for 3 p.m. (CT).

The Opening Tip
•    Omaha has won four of its last five games heading into the weekend.  Last time out, UNO defeated CSU Bakersfield 53-46 at Baxter Arena on Dec. 9.
•    The Mavericks outrebounded the Roadrunners, 42-32, making it the fourth-straight game outrebounding the opposition.
•    Sunday's game against CSU Bakersfield marked the first time all season Omaha did not block a shot.
•    Rayanna Carter scored in double figures for the fourth-straight game and the fifth time this season.
•    Josie Filer ranks second in The Summit League with 8.8 rebounds per game.
•    Kalen Phillips ranks third in league play with a 47.1 three-point shooting percentage.
•    Omaha has assisted on 120 of its 200 field goals, a remarkable 60 percent mark.
•    This season, Omaha is 3-0 when shooting 45.0 percent or better from the field.
•    Over the last five games, the Mavericks have allowed an average of 48.6 points to the opposition.
•    Omaha has four players who average 7.0 or more points per game, and nine different Mavericks have scored in double figures in at least one game.
•    UNO is tops in fewest points per game allowed (55.8 ppg) and opponents' field goal percentage (36.4 pct.)
•    The Mavericks rank second in The Summit League in opponents three-point percentage and rebounds per game and third rebounding margin.
•    UNO is also in the conference top five in assists, blocks and steals.

Scouting the Omaha Mavericks
Omaha is 5-4 coming into the weekend after defeating CSU Bakersfield last weekend.  Following Friday's home game, the Mavericks will head to Bozeman, Mont. to face Montana State.

Carter averages 10.3 points per game to lead the Mavericks.  Pilakouta averages 9.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.1 blocks per game.  Josie Filer is Omaha's top rebounder, grabbing 8.8 boards per contest, and averages 7.3 points per game.

As a team, the Mavericks average 59.9 points and 40.6 rebounds per game.  Omaha is shooting 38.9 percent from the field and 28.3 percent from long-range.  UNO is connecting on 64.8 percent of its free throws.

Scouting the Bradley Braves
Bradley enters Friday's matchup with a 7-0 mark after defeating Summit League member Western Illinois 82-68 on Dec. 4 in Peoria, Ill.  The Braves are 5-0 at home this season and 2-0 in games away from Renaissance Coliseum.

Lasha Petree and Gabi Haack lead Bradley in scoring this season averaging 16.7 points and 16.4 points per game, respectively.  Chelsea Bradley averages a double-double with 10.6 points and 11.0 rebounds per game, while Nyjah White chips in 11.0 points and 3.3 assists per game. 

As a team, the Braves average 75.6 points and 44.1 rebounds per game.  BU holds a +15.4 scoring and +7.0 rebounding margin.  Bradley shoots 41.1 percent from the field and 31.1 percent from beyond the three-point arc.

Series History
Omaha trails the all-time series with Bradley 1-0.  Last season, the Mavericks fell in the season opener 69-56 to the Braves in Peoria, Ill. 

Scouting the Montana State Bobcats
Montana State will play its first game in over a week when it hosts Omaha on Sunday afternoon.  The Bobcats are 4-4 overall and have lost two straight.  Last time out, MSU fell 71-49 to Texas Christian in Fort Worth, Texas on Dec. 8.

Montana State features three players scoring in double-figures led by Claire Lundberg with 18.5 points per game.  Martha Kuderer and Oliana Squires average 10.5 and 10.3 points per game, respectively.  Blaire Braxton is the team-leader in rebounding, averaging 5.6 boards per game off the bench.

As a team, the Bobcats average 62.1 points per game, while giving up 65.8 per game.  Montana State has played twice at home this season and hold a 2-0 mark at Worthington Arena.  They are 1-4 on the road and 1-0 at neutral sites.  MSU is 40.4 percent from the field and 26.0 percent from beyond the arc.  The Bobcats hold a slight edge in rebounding 35.6 to 35.2.

Series History
Omaha leads the all-time series with Montana State 1-0.  UNO defeated MSU 64-53 at Sapp Fieldhouse on Nov. 17, 2017.

Omaha returns to the hardwood on Friday, Dec. 21, against Northern Iowa.  Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
