Scouting the Omaha Mavericks
Omaha is 1-1 after dropping its road opener on Monday evening. The Mavericks opened their season with a 27-point win over USC Upstate last Friday at Baxter Arena.
Elena Pilakouta leads the Mavericks in scoring with 11.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game. Junior
Rayanna Carter averages 10.0 points, 4.0 boards and 1.5 steals per game. Sophomore
Claire Killian adds 9.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game.
Omaha holds a +12.5 rebounding advantage over its opponents this season, 93-68. The Mavericks shoot 41.4 percent (53-of-128) from the floor, 26.7 percent (8-of-30) from 3-point distance and 70.0 percent (28-of-40) from the free throw line.
Head coach Brittney Lange is in her six-year leading the Omaha women's basketball program and has a 66-81 career record.
Scouting the CSUN Matadors
• CSUN is 0-2 on the season after falling 74-63 at Boise State on Nov. 8.
• The Matadors also dropped their season opener 88-73 at Idaho on Nov. 6.
• Friday's game is the third in a four-match road stretch for the Matadors who end their trip against Drake.
• CSUN is picked first in the Big West Conference coaches' preseason women's basketball poll and second in the Big West Conference preseason media women's basketball poll released Oct. 24.
• The Matadors return all five starters and nine letterwinners from last season's 19-16 team that qualified for the NCAA Tournament.
• Head coach Jason Flowers is in his ninth season at CSUN with a record of 122-137.
