Women’s Soccer Concludes Regular Season Sunday Against Western Illinois

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's soccer team concludes the 2018 regular season this Sunday at home against Western Illinois.  Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

From the Goal Line
•    Omaha went 1-1 in a pair of road Summit League matches last weekend.  The Mavericks fell to South Dakota State, before defeating North Dakota State on Sunday.
•    UNO picked up its first road win of the year Sunday at NDSU.
•    Sophomore Bailey Cascio scored the Mavericks lone goal, and senior Erinoelle Clifton picked up the assist.
•    Junior Erin Bunker played both matches and earned her fourth shutout of the year.
•    Cascio leads the Mavericks with 11 points and four points.
•    Sophomore Andrea Daves has a team-leading four assists.
•    The Mavericks return 14 letterwinners and eight starters from last year's squad that finished 6-10-1.  Omaha notched a fifth-place finish in the Summit League with a 3-4 record.
•    Head coach Tim Walters is in his second season at the helm of the Maverick women's soccer program.
•    Summit League head coaches voted the Mavericks to finish seventh in the Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Scouting the Omaha Mavericks
Omaha enters the weekend with a 6-10-2 mark and 3-3-1 in The Summit League.  The Mavericks split a pair of matches last weekend, falling to South Dakota State before defeating North Dakota State.

Bailey Cascio leads the Mavericks with 11 points and four goals.  Emily Romero is next with seven points and three goals.  Andrea Daves has a team-best four assists.  Tabitha Allberg, Erinoelle Clifton, Hannah Heinemann and Brylie Meyer also have scored a goal this season.

Erin Bunker and Ina Gudjonsdottir have split time in goal this season for UNO.  Bunker has appeared in 11 games with 10 starts and has a 5-5-1 record with four shutouts.  She has a 1.21 goals-against average and a .769 save percentage.  Gudjonsdottir has appeared in nine games with eight starts and has a 1-5-1 record with one shutout.  She has a 1.27 goals-against average and a .771 save percentage.

Tim Walters is in his second season as head coach of the Mavericks, posting an 11-19-3 mark.  Assistant coach Kelly Farrell, volunteer assistant Nick Miller and graduate assistant Ava Doetsch round out the Omaha staff.

Scouting the Western Illinois Fighting Leathernecks
•    Western Illinois enters the weekend 3-12-1 overall and 0-6 in The Summit League.  
•    The Fighting Leathernecks visit Purdue Fort Wayne on Thursday, before heading to Omaha for Sunday's match. 
•    In its last two matches, WIU fell at Oral Roberts 3-1 and 3-0 against Denver.
•    Western Illinois has been outshot (297-163) and outscored (38-14) this season.
•    This is the third season for Dr. Eric Johnson at the helm of the Western Illinois women's soccer program and has a career mark of 6-26-2.  Dr. Johnson also serves as the men's soccer coach.

Tracking the Fighting Leathernecks
•    No. 8 Emily Bollman leads the team with nine points and four goals.
•    No. 6 Madeline Edwards has two goals.
•    No. 28 Bianca Romay also has two goals.
•    No. 5 Lauryn Peters has a team-high two assists.
•    No. 0 Ines Palmiero Herrera has appeared in 15 matches with 14 starts and has a 3-11-1 record with a 1.5 shutouts.  Palmiero Herrera has a 2.41 goals-against average and a .718 save percentage.
•    No. 1 Birgitta Sol Eggersdottir has appeared in three matches with two starts and is 0-1.  Eggersdottir has an 1.12 goals-against average and a .895 save percentage.

Series History
Sunday's meeting is the eighth all-time meeting between Omaha and Western Illinois with the Mavericks holding a 4-3 series lead.  UNO defeated WIU 3-1 last season at Caniglia Field on Oct. 26, 2017.
