Omaha Hits the Road to close out Summit Road Schedule

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's soccer team hits the road for the final time in 2018, visiting South Dakota State on Friday, Oct. 19, and North Dakota State on Sunday, Oct. 21.  Links to live stats and video are available on OMavs.com.

From the Goal Line
•    Omaha went 1-0-1 in a pair of home Summit League matches last week.  The Mavericks played North Dakota to a 1-1 draw on Thursday, before topping South Dakota 1-0.
•    Senior Emily Romero scored both goals for UNO last week and picked up Summit League Offensive Player of the Week honors.
•    Sophomore Bailey Cascio, freshman Kiana Dualan and junior Taylor Gelling each had an assist.
•    Junior Erin Bunker went 1-0-1 in goal for the Mavericks with seven saves.
•    Cascio leads Omaha in points (nine) and goals (three), while sophomore Andrea Daves leads the team with four assists.
•    Bunker has appeared in nine matches with eight starts.  She is 4-4-1 with a 1.139 goals-against average and a .732 save percentage.
•    Freshman Ina Gudjonsdottir has appeared in nine matches with eight starts.  Gudjonsdottir is 1-5-1 with a 1.27 goals-against average and a .771 save percentage.
•    Seven different Mavericks have scored a goal this season.
•    The Mavericks return 14 letterwinners and eight starters from last year's squad that finished 6-10-1.  Omaha notched a fifth-place finish in the Summit League with a 3-4 record.
•    Head coach Tim Walters is in his second season at the helm of the Maverick women's soccer program.
•    Summit League head coaches voted the Mavericks to finish seventh in the Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Scouting Omaha
Omaha is 5-9-2 this season and 2-2-1 in The Summit League after stopping South Dakota 1-0 on Sunday.  The Mavericks are 5-1-1 at home and 0-8-1 on the road.

Baily Cascio has a team-best nine points on three goals and three assists.  Emily Romero adds three goals and an assist for seven points.  Andrea Daves has a team-high four assists to goal with a goal for six points.  Senior Erinoelle Clifton, and freshmen Tabitha Allberg, Hannah Heinemann and Brylie Meyer each have a goal this season.

Erin Bunker and Ina Gudjonsdottir each have made nine appearances and eight starts.  Bunker is 4-4-1 with three shutouts, 11 goals allowed and 30 saves.  Gudjonsdottir is 1-5-1 with one shutout, 11 goals allowed and 37 saves.

Tim Walters is in his second season as head coach of the Mavericks, posting an 11-19-3 mark.  Assistant coach Kelly Farrell, volunteer assistant Nick Miller and graduate assistant Ava Doetsch round out the Omaha staff.

Scouting the South Dakota State Jackrabbits
•    South Dakota State is 9-5-1 overall and 4-1 in The Summit League.  The Jackrabbits suffered their first league loss on Sunday to North Dakota State, 1-0.
•    SDSU hosts the 2018 Summit League Women's Soccer Championship on Nov. 1-3.
•    South Dakota State outscores (21-10) and outshoots (22-173) its opponents this season.
•    Head coach Brock Thompson is in his second season leading South Dakota State with a 20-10-4 record and is the reigning Summit League Coach of the Year.  Thompson's career record is 77-54-4 with stops at Mary and North Dakota.

Tracking the Jackrabbits
•    No. 20 Karlee Manding (MF, Fr.) leads the team with 12 points on five goals.
•    No. 11 Leah Manuleleua (F, Jr.) adds 11 points on four goals and three assists.
•    No. 7 Carina McLennan (MF, Jr.) leads the team with four assists.
•    No. 1 Maggie Smither (GK, Jr.) has started all 15 matches with a 9-5-1 with a 0.66 goals-against average and a .875 save percentage.

Series History
Friday's meeting is the 12th all-time meeting, with Omaha leading the series 6-4-1.  In the Division I era, SDSU leads 4-2.  Last season, the Jackrabbits took a 1-0 victory in Brookings, S.D. (10-16-17)

Scouting the North Dakota State Bison
•    North Dakota State is 7-5 overall and 4-1 in The Summit League.  The Bison have won two straight matches, defeating North Dakota 2-1 and South Dakota State 1-0.
•    NDSU outscores its opponents (20-17) but trail in shots (166-163).
•    In league play, the Bison outscore the opposition 11-5.
•    Head coach Mike Regan is in his first season at North Dakota State with a 7-5 record.
•    Assistant coaches Karli Kopietz and Josh Purdum round out the coaching staff.

Tracking the Bison
•    No. 12 Mariah Haberle leads the team with 14 points on six goals and two assists.
•    No. 8 Holly Enderle has nine points on four goals and an assist.
•    No. 2 Hanna Norman has four goals.
•    No. 4 Roxy Roemer has a Summit League-leading eight assists.
•    No. 1 Monica Polgar has played every minute this season and has a 7-5 record with two shutouts.  Polgar has a 1.38 goals-against average and a .764 save percentage.

Series History
Sunday's meeting will be the 12th in series history with North Dakota State holding an 8-3-1 advantage.  The Bison also lead in the Division I era 6-0-1.  Last season, NDSU won a 3-2 match in Fargo, N.D. (10/8/17)
