BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Omaha women's basketball team dropped an 89-64 decision to South Dakota State on Wednesday evening at Frost Arena.
UNO fell to 8-6 overall and 0-2 in Summit League play with the loss, while SDSU improved to 11-4 on the season and 1-0 in league action.

Junior
Amber Vidal led three scorers in double figures with 22 points on 9-of-19 shooting with three assists and two rebounds.
Junior
Courtney Vaccher followed with 13 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots, while sophomore
Jay Bridgeman had 10 points.
Leaders for South Dakota State
SDSU's Madison Guebert led all scorers with 25 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor and a 7-of-7 effort at the free throw line. Guebert also added five assists and four rebounds.
Myah Selland added 13 points and five rebounds, while Ellie Thompson chipped in 11 points and four rebounds.
Team Stats
The Jackrabbits shot .483 (29-of-60) to UNO's .464 (26-of-56) and outrebounded the Mavericks, 34-29. SDSU shot .947 (18-of-19) from the free throw line compared to Omaha's .556 (5-of-9).
Inside the First Half
Vidal tallied seven points in the first quarter, shooting 3-of-5 with a three-pointer. The opening 10 minutes saw three ties and five lead changes. SDSU ended the quarter 12-3 run to take a 21-14 lead after the opening 10 minutes.
Bridgeman, Vaccher and Vidal combined for 20 points in the second quarter. Bridgeman led the Mavericks with eight points on a 3-of-3 effort from the floor that included two trifectas. Vaccher added seven points and three rebounds, while Vidal chipped in five points and two assists. Omaha opened the period with a 15-1 run, capped off by a Vidal three-pointer.
Claire Killian drained a trey with 5:22 left in the quarter to give the Mavericks their largest lead at 32-24. SDSU went on an 8-0 run over the next 1:47 and tied the game 32-32 on a Tylee Irwin three-ball. The two teams exchanged baskets over the final 2:27 of the half before Bridgeman's second trey of the period gave Omaha a 40-38 lead at halftime.
Looking at the Second Half
South Dakota State opened the second half on a 5-0 run to take an early 43-40 advantage. Omaha regained the lead on baskets by Vaccher and Vidal. The Jackrabbits, however, outscored the Mavericks 18-6 over the final 4:15 of the quarter to take a 68-54 lead after three quarters of play.
SDSU opened the fourth quarter 12-2 run to take an 80-56 lead with 6:14 remaining. Both teams later went over three minutes without scoring, until
Jess Walter converted a three-point play with 2:19 left on the clock. Then a pair of Irwin free throws gave South Dakota State its largest lead at 89-62. A layup by
Romekia Wallace made the final 89-64. The Jackrabbits finished at a .546 (18-of-33) from the field and .667 (10-of-15) from behind the arc in the second half.
