Omaha Concludes Non-Conference Play Against Peru State

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's basketball team is slated to host the Peru State Bobcats on Monday, Jan. 29.  Tipoff is at 7 p.m. at Baxter Arena.

About the Omaha Mavericks
•    Omaha ended a six-game losing streak last Wednesday, stopping North Dakota State 80-67.
•    The Mavericks are 9-10 overall and 1-6 in Summit League action.
•    Through 19 contests, junior guard Amber Vidal (12.0 points and 3.9 assists per game) and junior guard Jess Walter (11.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game) lead Omaha.
•    Junior Center Courtney Vaccher leads UNO and ranks second in the Summit League in field-goal percentage at 62.0 percent.
•    Junior guard Ellie Brecht averages 10.6 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
•    Freshman guard Claire Killian leads Omaha and is 10th in the conference with 1.5 seals per game.
•    UNO won seven straight games from Nov. 17-Dec. 6, its longest winning streak since the 2007-8 season.
•    This season Vidal has led the Mavericks in scoring nine times while Walter has led the team three times.
•    Three Mavericks have had at least one 20-point scoring performance this season with Vidal going for 20+ five times.
•    Omaha shot .500 or better as a team in three straight games from Nov. 30-Dec. 6 and four times overall this year.
•    The Mavericks were picked fifth in the league's 2017-18 preseason poll.
•    Last season, UNO finished 16-15 overall and fifth in the Summit League with a mark of 8-8.  
•    Omaha returns two of five starters from last season's team, Vaccher and Vidal.
•    UNO also returns Brecht and junior guard Kalen Phillips, along with sophomore forward Jay Bridgeman.
•    Walter and sophomore Sara Echelberry return to action after redshirting in 2016-17. 
•    The Mavericks welcome six newcomers in juniors Alicia Mountain and Romekia Wallace, and freshmen Kylee Coulter, Emily Dewey, Claire Killian and Emily Petersen.

About the Peru State Bobcats
Peru State enters Monday's contest with a 3-16 overall record and a 0-11 HAAC mark.  The Bobcats have lost 13 straight games heading into Monday's matchup.

Abigail Niebrugge (12.5 ppg) and Claire Cudney (12.1 ppg) lead the Bobcats in scoring this season.  Cudney also leads the team with 8.0 boards per game.

As a team, Peru State is averaging 54.8 points, 31.3 rebounds and 16.5 turnovers per game while its opponents are averaging 73.7 points, 44.3 rebounds and 14.4 turnovers.

Interim head coach Joan Albury is in her first season the Peru State.

History vs. Peru State
Monday is the 10th all-time meeting between Omaha and Peru State with the Mavericks leading the all-time series 9-0.  UNO topped the Bobcats 68-54 in their last meeting on Dec. 1, 2014, in its previous regular-season meeting.
