Western Michigan is 13-10-1 overall and 8-6-0-0/0 in the conference, putting it in third place.  The Broncos are coming off a split at home with Colorado College last weekend.  They won 3-2 in overtime on Friday before losing to the Tigers 6-5 in overtime the following night.  WMU is 3-6-0 on the road this season including a mark of 2-4-0 in conference games.  The Broncos are 4-6-0 in their last 10 games.

Last Time Out
Omaha was swept for the third time this season, losing to Denver 5-0 and 4-0 in Denver, Colo. last weekend.  On Friday, the Pioneers broke open a close game with three goals in the third period.  They finished the game with three power play tallies and 48 shots on goal.  Evan Weninger made a season-high 43 saves in the loss.

On Saturday, the Pioneers again held a 2-0 lead into the third period and scored twice more to win, 4-0.  Weninger had 25 saves for the Mavericks who hit a crossbar and two posts in the game.  The two wins extended Denver's winning streak over Omaha to 12 games.

The Coaches
Mike Gabinet is in his first season as head coach of the Mavericks, posting a 12-11-1 record.  The 2004 graduate of Omaha served as an associate head coach under Dean Blais last season and was elevated to the head coach position following Blais' departure after eight years at the helm.

Gabinet returned to his alma mater after four seasons at NAIT in Edmonton, Alberta, the last as its head coach.  That season, he led the Ooks to a 36-0-0 record and the ACAC Championship.  He was named the conference Coach of the Year and became the first rookie head coach in Canadian college hockey to guide his team to an undefeated record.

Gabinet, a standout defenseman for the Mavericks from 2000-04, is assisted by Dave Noel-Bernier (Omaha, 2001) and Peter Mannino (Denver, 2008).

Andy Murray is in his seventh season as head coach at Western Michigan.  The 1972 graduate of Brandon is 116-107-33 during his time in Kalamazoo.  He is assisted by Dave Shyiak and Todd Krygier.
