OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's soccer team tallied a pair of second-half goals just 17 seconds apart as the Mavericks rallied to post a 2-1 victory over Bradley Sunday evening at Caniglia Field.
With the win, the Mavericks improve to 6-0 (0-0 Summit League) on the year, while the loss drops the Braves to 3-3 (0-0 MVC) overall.
After a scoreless first half, Bradley grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 78th minute of play as Gerit Wintermeyer finished a bouncing ball in the box for his second goal of the season.
The lead would stand until the 87th minute when Omaha put two goals on the board.
Cole Nelson sent a cross into the box, and
Elvir Ibisevic sent a header over the outstretched hands of Bradley's Brandon Barnes to level the game at 1-1.
The Mavericks quickly regained possession off the ensuing restart, and
Emmanuel Hamzat held off a pair of Bradley defenders and slipped a shot under Barnes for his fourth goal of the season.
The Omaha defense held stout the final 3:38 to preserve the victory.
