Mavericks Drop Home Opener to Northern Iowa, 2-0

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision Friday evening to Northern Iowa at Caniglia Field.

Northern Iowa's Sarah Brandt fired a shot from about 25 yards out that found the top corner to put the Panthers up 1-0 in the first half.  UNI doubled the score in the 51st minute as Brynell Yount put home a pass from Kelsey Yarrow.

Turning Point
Sarah Brandt broke a scoreless tie in the 34th minute by firing a shot from 25 yards out that went over the Omaha keeper to give UNI a 1-0 lead.

Inside the Box Score
•    Northern Iowa held a 14-10 shot advantage.  The Panthers owned an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal.
•    Lydia Holtmann and Susie Dineen each had two shots to lead the Mavericks.
•    Erin Bunker played the first half and recorded three saves, Haley Johnson played the final 45 minutes and made three saves.
•    Kelsey Yarrow led UNI with five shots (one on goal).
•    Jamie Reichlenberger (2-0) made two saves for the Panthers.
