COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Six freshmen members of the Omaha hockey team were named to the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team today.
Colin Grannary,
Ryan Jones,
Zach Jordan,
Tristan Keck,
Kris Oldham and
Dean Stewart were among a group of 51 freshman singled out by the conference for their academic achievements. To earn a spot on the list, student-athletes must achieve a year-long grade point average of 3.0 or better.
The UNO freshmen join 19 of their upper-class teammates who were named Academic All-Conference in February. The freshmen class is not named until the student-athletes have completed two semesters at their respective schools.
The Mavericks led all NCHC schools with 25 members of the Academic All-Conference Team in 2016-17. It's the third straight year in the four-year history of the conference that they have done so.
The complete list of freshman student-athletes who earned NCHC Academic All-Conference and Scholar-Athlete Team honors is below, with Scholar-Athlete Team distinction noted in bold.
Beginning next season, members of the NCHC Scholar-Athlete Team will instead be referred to as NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athletes, as approved by the NCHC Athletic Council in April.
