OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha Athletics announced today that the hockey team will play Nipissing University of North Bay, Ontario in its annual exhibition game.
The game will be played at Baxter Arena on Friday, Oct. 6 at 7:07 p.m. It will be the first meeting of the two schools. The Lakers play in the Ontario University Athletics conference.
The Mavericks are 17-4-0 all-time against Canadian universities. Last season, they were edged by the University of Alberta, 3-2.
Omaha begins its 21st NCAA season on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 13-14, when it visits UMass Lowell of Hockey East.
The Mavericks open their home schedule the following week when they host Arizona State on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 20-21.
