OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's soccer team, behind a goal and an assist from senior
Xavier Gomez, downed Oral Roberts by a 2-0 score on Senior Day at Caniglia Field.
With the win, the Mavericks improved to 9-5-2 overall and 2-1-2 in Summit League action and clinched a spot in the Summit League Championship next week. The Golden Eagles end the season 4-11-1 overall and 1-4 in conference play.
Gomez scored the first goal of the game in the 16th minute off an assist from
Cole Nelson. Nelson sent a pass that split the middle of the ORU defense that allowed Gomez to place his shot into the left corner for his fourth goal of the season.
The Mavericks added an insurance goal in the 88th minute.
Elvir Ibisevic scored his ninth goal of the season from a shot from the right side that found the lower left corner. Gomez was credited with his eighth assist of the season.
