OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha men's basketball team picked up its first win of the season Wednesday night, defeating Drake 75-73 in the Mavericks' home debut at Baxter Arena.
 
Leaders for Omaha
Junior Zach Jackson led Omaha in scoring for the second straight game, finishing with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting with four rebounds and a steal. Senior Daniel Norl joined him in double figures with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting while adding two boards, four assists, two steals and two blocks.
 
Freshman Matt Pile also had a solid effort in his first game at Baxter Arena, posting career highs of nine points, six rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block.
 
Leaders for Drake
Drake had five players score in double figures: Nick McGlynn (13), Graham Woodward (13), Reed Timmer (12), Ore Arogundade (11) and De'Antae McMurray (10). McGlynn pulled down a game-high seven rebounds and added two blocks.
 
Team Stats
Omaha shot at least .500 for the fourth straight game, finishing at a .500 clip (29-of-58) with 10 3-pointers. Drake came in at .444 (24-of-54) and had the advantage on the boards, 34-24. The Mavericks forced 17 DU turnovers while committing just 11 themselves, their second-lowest total of the season.
 
Inside the First Half
Jackson paced Omaha in the first 20 minutes, notching 10 points on 4-for-6 shooting from the field. Down 13-9 early, the Mavericks built a 13-0 run from 12:37 to 8:57, going up 22-13. Though Drake whittled it back to 32-31 on a Woodward three with under a minute to the break, a Jackson layup in the closing seconds spotted Omaha a 34-31 edge heading into the locker room.
 
Inside the Second Half
In the second half, Norl paced the Mavericks with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting and a 3-of-3 effort from long range to lead Omaha's .593 (16-of-27) shooting as a team. Drake took a 48-44 lead with an 8-0 run and stretched it to 13-2 before eight points from Norl bolstered an 11-0 run that put the Mavericks ahead for good.
 
Despite an eight-minute span without a field goal, Drake mustered a rally late, and a Timmer 3-pointer with three seconds left brought it to 74-73. Timmer then fouled Jackson to send him to the line, and the junior's free throw pushed the winning tally to 75-73.
 
Omaha is now 1-7 on the season, while Drake is 4-2.
