Tigers Blank Mavericks 4-0 To Earn Split

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado College handed the Omaha hockey team its first shutout of the season, blanking the Mavericks 4-0 to earn a split of the weekend series at Broadmoor World Arena.

The Mavericks fell to 4-3-1 overall and 1-1-0-0/0 in the NCHC.  The Tigers improved to 7-5-0 overall and 3-3-0-0/0 in the conference.

For the second straight night, the Tigers took the first lead of the game.  On the power play, Nick Halloran collected a pass from Trey Bradley and fired a shot past Evan Weninger at 10:18.

The Tigers added to their lead in the second period.  Halloran cashed in on another power play at 5:15, and Trevor Gooch scored with an extra attacker during a delayed penalty to make it 3-0 after two.

The Mavericks had a good chance to get back in the game in the third period when CC's Tanner Ockey was given a major for checking from behind and a game misconduct.  But the Tigers got several big saves from goaltender Alex Leclerc during the five-minute advantage to preserve the score.

Mason Bergh added the final tally against Kris Oldham who started the third for Weninger.

Weninger took the loss with 15 saves on 18 shots.  Leclerc stopped 41 shots as the Mavericks outshot the Tigers, 41-22.

The Mavericks finish their six-game road trip at Western Michigan on Nov. 17-18.
