Pope Named NCHC Offensive Player of Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Omaha senior David Pope has been named the NCHC Offensive Player of the Week.

It is the first weekly award for the native of Edmonton, Alberta who led the Mavericks in scoring last weekend with five points in a split at then No. 8 Notre Dame.

On Thursday, Pope scored just 15 seconds into the game, assisted on UNO's second goal 4:55 later and added another goal in the second period as the Mavericks beat the Fighting Irish, 6-4.  He tied for second on the team with a +3 rating while leading the team with five shots.

The following night, he scored a power play goal and assisted on another in UNO's 5-4 loss.  With the five-point weekend, Pope moved into a three-way tie for first in team scoring with seven points.  With four goals, he's tied for the team lead and is in a tie for sixth in the conference.

The Mavericks have the weekend off before beginning conference play at Colorado College on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 10-11.
