AMES, Iowa -- The Omaha swimming & diving team visited Iowa State Friday evening, falling 198-91 at Beyer Pool.

Senior Olivia McLain finished in the top three in all three events she swam. The Kansas City, Mo., native won the 100 butterfly (57.82), placed second in the 200 IM (2:12.76) and came in third in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.18). Freshman Hailey Brull also won an event, leading the pack in the 200 fly (2:10.84).

Freshmen Bella Smits, Rebecca Martini and Naeleah Hadford had a trio of runner-up performances, with Smits in the 50 freestyle (24.59), Martini in the 200 breast (2:25.63) and Hadford in the 100 free (53.02). Senior Cassandra Jahn also finished second in the 500 free (5:17.88).

Sophomore Rachel Morrow earned a pair of third-place finishes as well in the 100 fly (1:00.75) and the 1000 free (10:53.94). Junior Kirsten Kracke added a third-place effort in the 100 free (54.33), while senior Hilary Schieffer was third in the 200 backstroke (2:13.58) and sophomore Lizzy Giese was third in the 200 IM (2:13.67), just behind McLain.

In the diving well, senior Monica Houck placed second in the one-meter dive (235.05) and third in the three-meter dive (238.40), while junior Annika Clinton took third in the one-meter event (228.35).

Omaha's relay teams also had strong showings for the night. Hadford, Smits, sophomore Brook Landt and junior Madison Ewald swam to second in the 200 free relay (1:39.22), and the B team of Jahn, Kracke, junior Kylene Abraham and freshman Olivia White followed in third (1:40.51). Smits, Brull, Jahn and senior Tiril Jensen added a third-place showing in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:01.02.

"We had some very good performances tonight, and I was very proud of our team's effort," head coach Todd Samland said. "We got two strong wins from Olivia McLain and Hailey Brull, and we looked sharper and more competitive than our last showing at Air Force.

"We learned tonight that our turns need to be more aggressive with our turn speed and underwater racing. That gives us some skill sets to work on going into next week's challenge at Northern Iowa."

Omaha returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 4, visiting UNI at 3 p.m. in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
