Mavericks Fall at Loyola Marymount

OMAHA, Neb. – Loyola Marymount scored the tie-breaking goal with 2:32 remaining in regulation to defeat Omaha, 2-1, on Friday at Sullivan Field. The Mavericks are now 2-6-2 on the season, while the Lions improve to 5-2-2.

Loyola Marymount was awarded a penalty kick in the 88th minute following an Omaha foul in the 18-yard box. Maddie Medved placed her chance into the far corner for the game winner.

The Mavericks took the first lead of the match in the 38th minute after a Lion foul in the box. Abby Meader's shot beat goalkeeper Charlee Pruitt to the right and gave Omaha a 1-0 lead.

Nikki Martino headed in a crossing pass from Pilar Torres with 5:24 remaining in regulation to tie the game.

Haley Shelton made a season-high 12 saves as the Lions outshot the Mavericks, 26-3.
