Women's Soccer Hosts K-State Sunday Afternoon

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha soccer returns to action this weekend as the Mavericks host Kansas State on Sunday, Sept. 4 at Noon.

Omaha Quick Hits (2-1-0, 0-0-0 Summit League)

  • The Mavericks enter the weekend with a 2-1-0 overall mark, falling to Creighton last Friday evening 2-1 and following with a 2-0 victory over North Dakota last Sunday.
  • Junior Carlie Cook was named Summit League Offensive Player of the Week for her performances last weekend.
  • Cook scored the Mavericks lone goal against Creighton and the game winner against North Dakota.
  • Senior Ava Doetsch scored Omaha's second goal against North Dakota.
  • Senior Haley Shelton made six saves and allowed two goals versus Creighton.
  • Junior Katlyn Schochenmaier made three saves and allowed one goal against Creighton.  Schochenmaier did not give up a goal and made three saves against UND.
  • Erin Bunker picked up her first career collegiate win against North Dakota making six saves and allowing no goals.

Kansas State Preview

  • The Wildcats enter the weekend with a 1-2-1 overall mark, defeating Oakland last Friday 6-0 before falling 2-0 to Central Michigan last Sunday.
  • K-State has surpassed the halfway mark of its eight-match road trip, and will begin its second month of action this weekend in Omaha. The Wildcats will face Creighton (2-1-1) and Omaha (2-1-0).
  • Six different Wildcats tallied a goal in the match, and junior Abby Sieperda notched the game winner in the 17th minute.
  • Junior goalkeeper Miranda Larkin recorded her second straight shutout and the third of her career in the win.
  • This is the first season of varsity soccer and is led by head coach Mike Dibbini.

Up Next

Omaha plays its first road match of the season next Friday (Sept. 9) at Missouri State.  Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Cook Earns Player of the Week Honors

Carlie Cook was named the Summit League Offensive Player of the Week in the second week of play for her two-goal performance in the Mavericks two games last weekend.

Summit League Weekly Honors

Haley Shelton was named the Summit League Defensive Player of the Week in the first week of play for her eight-save performance in the Mavericks win over UMKC.
