Box Score FARGO, N.D. -- The Omaha men's basketball team closed its first weekend of conference play Saturday afternoon, falling 82-70 to North Dakota State at the Scheels Center. The Mavericks are now 7-8 (0-2 Summit League) on the year, while the Bison improve to 10-5 (2-0).

Marcus Tyus paced the Mavericks with 18 points, hitting 4-of-8 from 3-point range. Sophomore guard
Zach Jackson added 13 points with four more triples, as well as six rebounds and an assist.

Mitch Hahn matched each other with 12 points. Hahn pulled down six boards and had two assists and a block, while Hollins contributed four rebounds, five assists and five steals. Junior forward
Tre'Shawn Thurman finished with a team-leading nine caroms alongside eight points, two assists and a steal.
North Dakota State was led by 22 points from Paul Miller and a double-double from Dexter Werner's 17 points and 13 rebounds off the bench. Carlin Dupree (18 points) and A.J. Jacobson (13) also scored in double figures.
The Mavericks shot .377 (23-of-61) from the field, .423 (11-of-26) from long range and .650 (13-of-20) at the free throw line. The Bison finished at a .436 clip (24-of-55) from the floor, .400 (8-of-20) from distance and .929 (26-of-28) at the stripe. Omaha had the edge in rebounding, 37-36.
Omaha and NDSU got off to a slow start, going a combined 1-of-17 from the field in the first six minutes. A Tyus three later gave UNO its first lead of the game at 17-16 with 8:19 left. In a half that included 10 lead changes, the Mavericks shot .357 (10-of-28) and trailed the Bison 29-28 at the break.
Omaha knotted the game at 31-all with a Hollins trey 32 seconds into the second half, then took the lead again at 34-33 with a Jackson triple. After the Bison went ahead by five with a 3-pointer from Jacobson at 40-35, the Mavericks used another Jackson three and a dunk from Hahn to even the score at 40-40 with 14:51 to go.
Omaha threatened again when free throws from Hahn and junior guard
Daniel Norl pulled the Mavericks within two at 44-42, but the Bison went on a 7-0 run from 12:12 to 10:21 to lead 51-42. UNO never got within less than six for the remainder of the game, and the Bison shot .560 (14-of-25) and hit 20 of 22 second-half free throws to finish it off with a final tally of 82-70.
Omaha returns to Baxter Arena for its first Summit League home game next Wednesday, Jan. 4, welcoming Fort Wayne. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m., and Gary Sharp and John Karhoff will have the radio call on 1180 Zone 2. Links to live stats, audio and video will be available on OMavs.com.
