Mavericks Seventh at Summit Championship

SEASIDE, Calif. – The Omaha women's golf team is in seventh place following the first day of play at the Summit League Championship on Monday.

The Mavericks put up a four-player team score of 330 after a windy first round at the Bayonet Golf Course.  They're just one stroke behind South Dakota and IUPUI who are tied for fifth.  Defending champion Denver and Oral Roberts are tied for the lead at 307 while South Dakota State is third at 313.

Sophie Peters led the Mavericks on the first day with a round of 77 that included a string of three straight birdies from holes 11 – 13.  She is in a four-way tie for seventh overall in the field of 45.

Megan Vetrovsky is tied for 14th after shooting a first round score of 80.  That puts her three strokes ahead of teammate Katie Kesti who is tied for 25th with a score of 83 on Monday.

Makenna Kroeker carded a score of 90 on day one and is tied for 42nds.  Alexa Ruwe completed the scoring for the Mavericks with a score of 95.

The Mavericks will be one of the first three teams off the tee when the second round begins on Tuesday at 10 a.m. CT.
