Box Score GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The Omaha men's basketball team capped its 2014-15 season on a three-game win streak Tuesday evening, defeating North Dakota 80-78 at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. With the win, the Mavericks finished the year at 12-17 (5-11 Summit League), while UND completed the regular season at 8-21 (4-13 Big Sky).
A balanced offensive effort put six Mavericks in double-figure scoring, led by 14 points apiece from freshman forward
Tre'Shawn Thurman and junior guard
Devin Patterson. Thurman added a team-high five assists, four rebounds, three blocks and a steal, while Patterson shot 6-of-10 and had three boards, three assists and a steal.
Senior forward
Mike Rostampour played the final game of his career and finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and a pair of steals, while senior
CJ Carter totaled 11 points, three caroms, three assists and a team-leading four steals. Carter completed his four-year Maverick career as UNO's fifth-best all-time scorer with 1,502 points and was seventh for career field goals made (533) and assists (343), eighth for steals (149), 10th for 3-pointers made (142) and 18th for blocks (40).

Kyler Erickson rounded out the double-figure scoring performances with 10 points apiece, shooting an identical 4-of-7 from the field. Erickson had two key treys in the second half, and White narrowly missed a double-double, grabbing a team-leading nine rebounds. Junior guard
Tim Smallwood came just short of another double-figure effort, totaling nine points on 4-of-6 shooting.
As a team, Omaha outshot .466 (27-of-58) to North Dakota's .415 (27-of-65) from the field and outrebounded UND 37-36.
North Dakota was paced by 23 points from Quinton Hooker, who shot 8-of-13 from the floor. Lenny Antwi added 12 points, all of which came from long range, as he made four triples.
Omaha started the game hot, taking a 25-14 lead nine minutes in with the help of nine points and three rebounds from Rostampour. UND then pulled within five, but a Carter layup at 9:39 made it 27-20. From there, North Dakota exploded on a 17-3 scoring run to go ahead 37-30 with 3:59 to go. Over the next two minutes White poured in three buckets and Patterson added another, and a Patterson 3-pointer with 0:03 till the buzzer brought Omaha back within two at 43-41.
North Dakota worked out to its largest lead of the game at 12:05 in the second half, as six straight points from Hooker made it 62-53. UNO then went on a 7-0 run, capped by a 3-pointer and a drive to the basket by Erickson, to cut the game to 62-60 with just under 11 minutes to play.
The Mavericks continued to rally and went ahead 69-66 with a Carter trey, but North Dakota regained the lead at 78-77 on a three from Terrel de Rouen with 1:25 left. Carter then went to the line after being fouled by Dustin Hobaugh, making both and putting the Mavericks ahead again at 79-78 with 1:10 on the clock. Thurman iced the game with one last free throw and a final UND 3-point attempt was just off, securing Omaha the 80-78 road win.
With its fourth and final season as a reclassifying Division I program complete, Omaha now looks ahead to 2015-16, when it will be fully eligible to qualify for postseason play in the Summit League Tournament and NCAA Tournament.
