CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Omaha women's golf team tied for sixth at the Saluki Invitational on Monday.
The Mavericks finished with a team score of 678 over two rounds at Hickory Ridge Golf Course, while Southern Illinois won the event with a score of 636. SIU Edwardsville was second, just one stroke back, and Southern Illinois "B" placed third (653). Fort Wayne came in at fourth (665), followed by Eastern Illinois (669). Omaha finished ahead of Rend Lake CC (686), Tennessee State (692), Central Michigan (697), Cardinal Stritch (726) and John A. Logan CC (739).
Katie Kesti led the Mavericks on day two and was their top scorer for the tournament. She shot a 74 on Monday to finish at 157, good for a tie of fourth place. Megan Vetrovsky landed in a tie for 27th in the standings, shooting a 79 in round two for a total of 169.
Sophie Peters carded a score of 89 in the final round to finish at 174, good for 37th, Makenna Kroeker shot 91 on Monday for a total score of 174, putting her 44th.
Alexa Ruwe concluded the scoring for the Mavericks with a score of 95 in round two for a tournament total of 184.
Omaha returns to action on Monday, April 20 at the Summit League Championship. The event is set for a 10:30 a.m. start in Monterey Bay, Calif.
