Katie Kesti shot an opening-round score of 76 to lead the Omaha women's golf team on the first day of play at the MSU Ocala Spring Invitational hosted by Morehead State.
The Mavericks are in 14th place after the first day of play at the Juliette Falls Golf Resort with a team score of 317. South Alabama leads the tournament with a score of 293. South Dakota State is second at 297, and Stephen F. Austin State is third at 298.
Kesti's round of 76 is her second-best of the season. She's in a tie for 33rd in the field of more than 100 golfers.
Sophie Peters is one stroke back after shooting 77 on Sunday to put her in a tie for 41st.
Megan Vetrovsky is third for the Mavericks and in a tie for 48th with a score of 78.
Makenna Kroeker fired an opening round of 86 and is 94th overall.
Alexa Ruwe rounds out the scoring for the Mavericks with a score of 90.
The second round begins on Monday at noon CT.
